Young Artists and Their Creations
As I continue my artist-in-residence stint at Marbles Kids Museum, I'm continually amazed at how children absorb art instruction, then strike out on their own, exploring new color combinations, new materials, and new ways of seeing their world. Below is a collage of young artists and their cut paper collage creations from this week at Marbles. The artists range from age two (with help from their moms and dads) to age 8 (no help needed!). In some cases, we painted the papers, then cut them up to use as backgrounds as well as design elements for our collages. As you'll see, some artists chose to also decorate their frames with their colorful papers. In other cases, I gave the children a pastel-colored background inside a white frame, and they cut up already-painted papers for their collages. In all cases, I encouraged them to play around with the colors and shapes, and create whatever they wished.
Enjoy viewing the results.
Next up: Monoprint workshop, tomorrow (2/25), from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
