My Work Has Been Published!

Well, in a vanity press sort of way.
I first mentioned the 2009 calendar here, and now it's been published. Thanks to my friend Gary Shellehamer, who put together a group of artists and designers and coordinated our work (which I bet was like trying to herd cats at times!) into this great-looking finished product.

It's fun to see my work in print, and even more fun to see what everyone else came up with. The final page of the calendar has bios on each artist. Here's what mine says:
"Michelle Davis Petelinz's career as an artist began whe at age seven, her mother gave her a box of 64 Crayola crayons with the sharpener in the back. Once the box was opened and the aroma of all those beautiful, sharp colors hit her nose, Michelle was hooked. As a result, she majored in Art History at Wellesley, worked (and met March's Gary) in textbook publishing design, created a small jewelry design business, and was an art show promoter for 12 years. Now, she works part time as an art instructor, and owns her own business, creating wall hangings, masks, mirrors and shadow boxes inspired by African colors and motifs. Michelle's October illustration contains leaves in hand-tinted papers similar to those used in her work seen on her Artventuring blog."

Thanks again, Gary. It looks great!

That is fantastic Michelle! I love your bio! Can so relate to being hooked on the box of crayons as a kid! Pretty much the same thing for me. Your October print is beautiful. People are really going to enjoy having your art hanging in their homes!

Thanks, Debbie! No, I haven't...but I will. Thanks for reminding me to tune up that horn!

Cindy, isn't it interesting how many of us artists were first attracted by those aromatic Crayolas and that cool sharpener? Thanks for the compliments and the visit.

Well done, Michelle. I'm not sure if I ever got that really big box of crayons with the sharpener. I wonder if they still sell them? (smile)

Oh, yes they do Lori, so there's still time for you to get yours! Thanks for stopping by.

yay, you! it looks great!

...both of our girls still like to have 'coloring time' after a familly dinner -- the lure of Crayolas is some powerful mojo ;-)
